Residential Care:

Resources regarding residential care for children and youth. 

The Association of Children’s Residential & Community services promotes excellence in residential interventions both domestically and abroad. ACRC was founded in 1956, and has grown to a network of over 200 members across the world. They advocate for—and share innovative treatment and best practices with—members and non-members alike to advance best practices in the field. 

The BRTRC is a project of the Justice Resource Institute (JRI), a non-profit organization that aims to provide trauma-informed behavioral health clinics, trauma services, community, educational and residential services, foster care and childhood services, health and housing, and intensive services and juvenile justice. JRI operates residential and day school services designed for children and adolescents, ages 5-22, coping with academic struggles, social struggles, complex trauma, mental illness, and emotional challenges.  

National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN)

The BRTRC is a Category II Site of the NCTSN.  

The NCTSN website offers many resources, including background on trauma informed treatment and practices, resources about trauma developed specifically for caregivers, professionals, and youth, and background on the meaning of trauma informed care.  

The Learning Center for Child and Adolescent Trauma is an online resource for professionals and families who want to learn more about child traumatic stress. The primary sections of the Learning Center include: Continuing Education, Military Families, Psychological First Aid, Service Systems, Special Populations, and Clinical Training. The courses available in these sections include webinars, e-learning courses, and training curriculum.

1. LINK-KID from UMASS: 

LINK-KID is a centralized referral service that is a large network of providers across the state of Massachusetts, all who have been trained in trauma-focused Evidence-Based Treatment. LINK-KID aims to help youth receive quality treatment for trauma as soon as possible, along with decreasing wait times while providing support.  

The Behavioral Health Help Line (BHHL) connects individuals and families to the full range of treatment services for mental health and substance use offered in Massachusetts, including outpatient, urgent, and immediate crisis care. Call for real-time support, initial clinical assessment, and connection to the right evaluation and treatment. The BHHL is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by phone call and text at 833-773-2445, and online chat at masshelpline.com. 

3. 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the United States. They are committed to improving crisis services and advancing suicide prevention by empowering individuals, advancing professional best practices, and building awareness. 

CCTASSI is part of the Center for Child Trauma Assessment, Services & Systems Integration at Northwestern University. CCTASSI Films aims to shine a light on the complex developmental effects of trauma in youth with an emphasis on misdiagnosis, racial trauma, and transition age youth. CCTASSI Films’ mission is to create informative, relatable, and challenging films for the public to raise awareness and educate those providing and seeking to help address these systemic issues. 

ComplexTrauma.org offers detailed information on defining, treating, and supporting the healing process from complex trauma.
